McCAFFREY: Racism from the Left solves nothing
Written by on August 12, 2010, 06:49 PM
According to militants in the ranks of MoveOn.org, La Raza and the rest of the open borders, pro-Amnesty crowd, Americans who oppose amnesty for illegal aliens are guilty of racism.
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) shocked many Americans this week when he announced "I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican, okay. Do I need to say more?"
(Of course, Mr. Reid has become largely irrelevant, even in his own home state. The liberal icon of Congress’s upper chamber who boasts having learned to swim in a whorehouse pool (a fact) supports the Obama lawsuit against Arizona over SB1070, which allows law enforcement to verify the immigration status of suspected illegal aliens stopped during the commission of a crime. Recent polls show nearly 70% of Nevadans disagree with Reid and support the Arizona anti-illegal immigration law.)
At B.A.N., neither we nor our supporters have fallen for the traps set in the road for us. Contrary to the nonsense spewed by our opponents, we strongly support legal immigration. We are indeed a nation of immigrants, and we are proud of this fact. The American experiment is not just a dream we hope to share with those who make the sacrifices to come here legally – but something we hope for other peoples and nations.
And at B.A.N., we reject the ridiculous ideas of those on the Left who assert there is no room in either the Republican Party or the conservative movement for individuals of any color, heritage, income or background. Belief in the rule of law does not come from the color of one’s skin, but from the respect we each hold for our fellow citizens.
The 12-23 million illegal aliens in the United States come from nearly 200 nations around the world. Despite what the Left would have everyone believe, illegal immigration is not a Mexican problem. The Mexican people are diverse and beautiful people with an historic culture.
Rather, illegal immigration is an American problem because the fault rests squarely on the shoulders of Congress and White House (occupants past and present) who have failed to secure our border, protect American sovereignty and close America’s open-door policy for illegals.
It may be that charges from the Left of supposed racism from the Right make good television and news copy, but they don’t solve problems. They do, however, serve only to worsen race relations in America. And, they insult the tens of millions of Latino Americans whom the Left assumes support lawless, criminal behavior.
Clearly the opposite is true… despite what Harry Reid thinks.

When federal agents raided a chain of Chuy’s Restaurants across Arizona and California, more than 40 illegal aliens were arrested, along with several of the chain’s top executives were arrested, including the father-and-son owners and their accountant. Yes, LA RAZA & CO will scream and moan, but the illegal aliens apprehended here, aren't the victims. Neither are the business owners accused of breaking the law. The real victims are the legal employees whose jobs will be lost because their employer refused to obey the law.

With just one signature, Gov. Brewer can change the American political landscape.
HB 2177 has already passed the Arizona State House and State Senate. The legislation would require candidates for the highest office in the land to prove their qualifications.
Among those qualifications, candidates for United States President must have been born in the United States – or at least on a military base near the Panama Canal, in Sen. John McCain’s case.

Illegal immigrants leave when laws are enforced.
The Migration Policy Institute report cited in the article found that consistent enforcement leads illegal immigrants to leave the United States voluntarily. This counters arguments that amnesty is the way to solve illegal immigration.

"Any honest assessment on 9/11 this year, ten years after the attacks, I think will have to conclude we are slowly losing the war," Gingrich said. "We are losing the war because madrasas are out there teaching hatred, we're losing the war because the network of terror is bigger, not smaller... We're losing the war because there's a real possibility that in a few weeks, unfortunately, Egypt will join Iran and join Lebanon and join Gaza and join the things that are happening that are extraordinarily dangerous. The Department of Homeland Security is designed to keep our borders strong, our country safe, and to enforce our immigration laws. Under Obama and Janet Napolitano, however, the DHS is not guided by any of these key values, but rather, by their own self-serving agenda... regardless of how unfair that agenda is to U.S. citizens. Recently, Napolitano actually went so far as to claim that Congress must pass the DREAM Act because the DREAM Act will make our borders stronger and will allow DHS to "do its job of enforcing the nation's immigration law."

In addition to suing the state of Arizona, Obama's Justice Department has given over $60 million to Sanctuary Cities across the United States. In this year alone, Obama’s Justice Department has funneled approximately $62.2 million into cities, counties, and states that offer sanctuary to illegal aliens.

“An illegal immigrant should still be in Colorado awaiting trial. Instead, he was escorted to the Mexican border and set free.” Yes, that’s right, he was not only set free; he was set free by ICE!
