B.A.N. STAFF: McCain Won the Primary... Now What???
Written by on August 26, 2010, 04:48 PM
Well there we have it: John McCain out-muscled (or perhaps just out-spent) J. D. Hayworth and won the Republican Senate nomination for the great State of Arizona and, as Michael Tomasky of the Guardian, states “he will win in November, barring a heart attack or something between now and then.” John McCain is an icon and figurehead in the state of Arizona, yet he is horribly out of touch with what the people of his state want, need, and deserve. Many Arizonans, and many who have written and/or called in to B.A.N. are at a loss to the following question, so we certainly welcome your thoughts: WHAT NOW?
What will happen in Congress now that John McCain is a shoo-in for re-election? In terms of protecting our border and banning amnesty for illegal aliens, McCain is at best a flip-flopper (and trust me, I would have loved to see this term die with John Kerry’s terrifying bid for president). McCain thinks that we can’t see through his cheap, meaningless campaign promises. He was one of the isolated few Republican presidential candidates who in 2007 (this is three years, not decades ago) worked closely with Democrats (remember McCain-Kennedy?) to try and pass a bill that would grant amnesty to the 12-to-23 million illegal aliens currently in the U.S. If that wasn't bad enough, McCainn also sought to use tax payer dollars and his time sitting in elected office to not merely pardon—but to reward and welcome—illegal criminals to our great nation.
Though McCain changed his tune about immigration (conveniently) while on the campaign trail, most of us now expect him to once again reverse course and march up Pennsylvania Avenue to that big mansion at 16th Street and kiss up to the Obama administration. There, he'll repeat the pledge he made after losing his doomed, Quixotic presidential campaign and promise to support the Obama’s plans for “comprehensive immigration reform”—which is nothing more than Washington-ese for “amnesty.”
Please support B.A.N’s mission to keep America a place we can all be proud of. Please keep pressue on John McCain to listen to the 65% of Arizonans who oppose amnesty. it is up to us, all of us at B.A.N., to hold him accountable for espousing one set of values on the campaign trail and then adhering to a completely different set when he sets foot inside Washington, D.C.

When federal agents raided a chain of Chuy’s Restaurants across Arizona and California, more than 40 illegal aliens were arrested, along with several of the chain’s top executives were arrested, including the father-and-son owners and their accountant. Yes, LA RAZA & CO will scream and moan, but the illegal aliens apprehended here, aren't the victims. Neither are the business owners accused of breaking the law. The real victims are the legal employees whose jobs will be lost because their employer refused to obey the law.

With just one signature, Gov. Brewer can change the American political landscape.
HB 2177 has already passed the Arizona State House and State Senate. The legislation would require candidates for the highest office in the land to prove their qualifications.
Among those qualifications, candidates for United States President must have been born in the United States – or at least on a military base near the Panama Canal, in Sen. John McCain’s case.

Illegal immigrants leave when laws are enforced.
The Migration Policy Institute report cited in the article found that consistent enforcement leads illegal immigrants to leave the United States voluntarily. This counters arguments that amnesty is the way to solve illegal immigration.

"Any honest assessment on 9/11 this year, ten years after the attacks, I think will have to conclude we are slowly losing the war," Gingrich said. "We are losing the war because madrasas are out there teaching hatred, we're losing the war because the network of terror is bigger, not smaller... We're losing the war because there's a real possibility that in a few weeks, unfortunately, Egypt will join Iran and join Lebanon and join Gaza and join the things that are happening that are extraordinarily dangerous. The Department of Homeland Security is designed to keep our borders strong, our country safe, and to enforce our immigration laws. Under Obama and Janet Napolitano, however, the DHS is not guided by any of these key values, but rather, by their own self-serving agenda... regardless of how unfair that agenda is to U.S. citizens. Recently, Napolitano actually went so far as to claim that Congress must pass the DREAM Act because the DREAM Act will make our borders stronger and will allow DHS to "do its job of enforcing the nation's immigration law."

In addition to suing the state of Arizona, Obama's Justice Department has given over $60 million to Sanctuary Cities across the United States. In this year alone, Obama’s Justice Department has funneled approximately $62.2 million into cities, counties, and states that offer sanctuary to illegal aliens.

“An illegal immigrant should still be in Colorado awaiting trial. Instead, he was escorted to the Mexican border and set free.” Yes, that’s right, he was not only set free; he was set free by ICE!
